Poss going bad Over Drive 200

When I engage my overdrive on my 86 wagon 240 manuall it feels like its slipping then finnaly engages then studers then engage. If I give alittle bit of gas it disengages then finnaly stays in over drive. I don't think its electric because I feel it studering and not engaging. Is it easy to fix and do you think the OD is going. Thanx
