Howdy Brick EXPERTS,
Don't know if anybody has had this problem, just looking for some suggestions. Just some background info. It is a 1990 740 Turbo with about 410K KMS, for the non-metric types that's about 250K miles. The turbo is the original water & oil cooled (Garrett) I believe. The engine is still all original never been rebuilt or even had the head lifted. Oil consumption is nominal about 1/2 Qt. in 5K Kms (3K miles). Coolant consumption none (no leaks). New thermostat 9 months ago. No aparent overheating. Electric cooling fan appears to work correctly with or without the A/C in use. The problem seems to be a lot of pressure building up in the system on long runs particularly if booting it and using the boost a lot. The top water hose looks a little blown up or larger than it shoul be. Could it be my turbo is worn out the seals are going and the boost is leaking into the coolin system? If so how do I verify something like this before laying out big bucks for a turbo rebuild?
Hope I gave enough background info.
Any help or suggestions would be very welcome.
