940 AC Repair 900

I had to replace the AC line from the compressor to the filter/dryer. The line had a leak in it. I was told that I have to replace the filter/dryer unit also since I opened up the "system".

I know that the system must have a vacuum drawn before it is recharged but the replacing of the filter/dryer is something I had not expected.

Is that really needed?
