rear shocks 700 1991

For nitrogen gas charged rear shocks; can the upwards force be approx. 300 lbs force? (280psi acting on 1 3/16" bore) This relates to 1. A sagging rear end on my Wagon. 2. A 1" side to side difference in the rear.
The fronts are w/in .25" on each other & seem to be normal in height (compared to my balanced 91-940 wagon.
740 has new rear springs (properly fitted), nothing is bent, twisted or corroded.
No oil on the rear shocks. The ride isn't bad. If you stand on either back corner, the rear end doesn't sag obviously.
I really hate being a parts changer, I like to determine the problem 1st.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
