MISC>>>Slow acceleration...small gas leak...timing off? 200 1979

I was just wondering if a small (I actually don't know how small or large)gas leak would affect acceleration? My car reeks of gas whenever I fill up or make sharp left or U turns. When I take the gas cap off there is no pressure released. Recently it started to run bad, while driving on the freeway I could only get it up to 65-70 mph versus 75-80 mph. When I pulled over it was idleing rough. The main problem besides the rough idle is when starting from a stop it takes more gas to get going or it feels as if it could stall. I checked the distributor cap and it was charred a little inside to the left of each peg. So I am thinking that the timing is off. I was planning to change the timing belt anyways so I already have the belt. When I change the timing belt I am going to change the tensioner as well. But what else needs to be changed while I have the front of the engine apart? I have read about seals and stuff but I want the specific names of the seals I need to buy. Sorry I kinda just rambled on, thanks for reading.....Paul.'79 244DL
