M-46 OD Relay Problems 200 1986

I have an '86 245 Wagon with B230 and M-46 manual tranny w/ OD. Recently, the OD started a regular pattern on not working. On hot Memphis days, the OD will not engage (light does not come on when button is pushed) for about the first ten minutes of driving. As the interior of the car cools down, the OD will try to engage (light comes on and trans goes into OD) but then immediately drops out until it finally engages and stays engaged. I didn't know if it was an OD problem or an OD relay problem until last night I thought to bump the dash with my hand while driving (by the glovebox, where the relay is located). I found that everytime I bumped the dash, the OD would drop out. Do I have to replace the relay, or is there a solder fix for it like the fuel pump relay. I have access to a professional soldering rig.
