Over the weekend I installed a new Nissens aluminum radiator in my 91 Volvo 940SE Wagon. The operation went smoothly except for two details (ok three if you count the wrong thermostat)
The first thing I noticed is that the lower radiator hose is compressed somewhat where it contacts an a/c line - this contact happens right at the radiator outlet, so I can't see any way to avoid the contact. Any ideas why this would be happening and is it likely to be a problem? There is a slight rub mark on the old hose, but it sure wasn't pressed up that hard when I took it off.
Second thing I am seeing is that there is coolant leaking out around the a/c fan temperature sensor. I used the supplied crush washer and used reasonable force to tighten the sensor (it's the threaded kind). Would it be safe to use RTV, teflon tape or similar product on the threads of the sensor to help stop the leak or does that need to be a good metal to metal connection?
Thanks!
Ben
