My mechanic recently put Bilstein Touring Class shocks on my '85 240 DL (after replacing all the front and rear bushings, brake rotors and calipers). The car handles and rides much better, but the front of the car now appears to be quite higher than the back. He has suggested the rear springs might be the culprit, and told me that he thinks there should be a spec somewhere regarding springs, like a measurement that you can take to determine if the springs are bad. Has anyone heard of this? Maybe you measure the distance from the ground to some part of the car?? So far it just seems to be a cosmetic issue, but I'm afraid maybe over time something will wear out prematurely as a result of this. Any suggestions on what else might be causing the problem? You guys are always so helpful! I really appreciate the advice I've received here.
