Smoke came from under shift lever now I have to place car in N to start. I had console cover out thinking it was neutral safety switch until someone here said that more common was shiftlock swith is that the same as microswitch and how close was I to getting at it and can I cut or bypass switch. Also interesting tidbit was the thought that failing transmission mounts may have cuased misalignment and made the short occur anyone with same story and know of replacement procedure.
