Hi all,
My first time here and my first Volvo. I have an '89 245 DL Wagon, Automatic transmission.
My problem is that when starting it, either cold or hot, the engine will not idle on it's own. I have to give it gas for 30 to 45 seconds before it will idle by itself and I've noticed a smell of gas in the exhaust. Once in a while a belt will squeal when starting it up. Once it starts to idle it runs fine until I turn it off. I recently pulled all the fuses in the inside drivers side and cleaned the holder and replaced all the fuses, it was VERY corroded.
It's recently had a new waterpump, transmission and ECU put in. I stopped by a garage that does work on Volvos and they suggested putting an Injector cleaning additive in the gas and just running a tank of gas through the engine. I just recieved the Haynes and Bentley service manuals so I'm ready to go. :)
