Front calipers sticking 700 1985

I had my front brake pads and rotors changed about a year ago. The front left wheel started some gnarly grinding last week when braking. i took the wheel off and the rotor is chewed up and the pad is completely worn down to the metal. The right side brake pad and rotor are in almost perfect condition though. Is the the caliper sticking? waht causes this? and quick way to fix, or do I need a new caliper?
