Oil filter won't come off... Is this an engine mount? 200 1980

I'm in the middle of an oil change right now, and I can't get the oil filter off. I've tried tools, my hands, and a lot of cussing, but none of it has worked so far.

It feels like a rubber piece is sitting against the bottom of the filter. I'm guessing it's one of the engine mounts.

How hard is it to replace the engine mounts? I've never had to do it before. Where should I jack up the engine? Any details that could help me out would be appreciated. (I hope I don't have to get too far under the car, I don't have any jack stands or ramps, but will get some if I have to...)

Would this be a good time to change the transmission mount as well? I have an M-46.

Could an oil leak cause mounts to fail sooner rather then later? The car has been using a bit more oil then I think it should lately, and some oil is showing up on the splash pan...

Is it still safe to drive around with the mount against the oil filter like that? I have a very long drive to work in the mornings these days, and walking or bussing isn't an option... I can't get parts for this until Monday at least, and I won't be able to work on it until next Saturday, weather permitting.

Anyone ever had any problem with IPD mounts? I’ll just run over there on Monday and pick them up if not.

I'm at 417K miles right now, and hoping for many more.

Thanks as always.
