Strut noises 700 1992

So we finally find a 740 wagon to buy and it needs shocks/struts. No prob, I am an able bodied shade tree mechanic. So I install my new KYB's, ball joints, strut mounts, rotors and pads.

My wife drives the car and says there is noises. I check it and it has the sound of the spring tuning with the wheel along with a metallic rattle (on bumps). So I diassasemble and reassesmble...same thing.

I am wondering if I missed a top spacer? Does anyone have a diagram or description of the parts from the strut nut down?

Any other ideas?
