New to the board, jsut bought a 1990 240 DL wagon, but have owned a '78 245 and currently have a '72 1800ES as my daily driver (for sale soon!). Heres the deal:

I paid $150 for my 240, a solid car with all the options, had been donated to charity, some cosmetic issues, perhaps a few mechanical things, but basically a good running car. Drove it home from the lot (maybe 15 miles), and parked it in my driveway. I've been messing around with the electricals, just making sure everything works, but without the engine running, draining the already tired battery. Last night I tried to fire it up for the first time since getting it home, and it wouldn't start, so i put a 2 amp trickle charge on it overnight. I figure I should have disconnected the battery before doing so, but, well, um, I didn't. This morning, the starter spun like a top, but the engine wouldn't even kick. I haven't had time to do any further troubleshooting, but I thought I'd post anyway. The only things I've done other than purely cosmetic stuff have been to clean and gap the plugs and charge the battery. What might I have done by charging it with the battery connected? Fried the Fuel Injection ECU? The alternator diode set? Something else?
