Sluggish and 'laggy' after startup 200

Hey all
My '85 240 is reealy sluggish and laggy after i start it up and until it gets reasonably warm, remains as such.
Epecially when i plant the accelerator,(not very mechanically sympathetic i know!) there is a huuuge lag before the car moves anywhere, which can be quite dangerous if pulling into traffic! It also blows alot of smoke when this happens, but none at all once it is warmed up!
The performance is reasonably good when it is warm, for a 320500km engine with no mods whatsoever!

1985 250GL. 320450 km (or thereabouts), sound system, debadged, VAC and ammeter gauges, custom grille, hella driving lights. All show and no go - TOO MUCH SCHOOL WORK!!
