I'm 16 and want a volvo

I am currently driving my parent's v70, however i get my liscense next month and I will need my own vehicle. I have $5,000 to spend on a car, and am wondering if i could get a basic overview of different volvo models with their pros and cons. From what i have gathered so far, a '93 or '94 940 is a good car, with some possibly major yet easily prevented problems.

Basicaly, i want a car that is under 5 grand, reliable, (btw, what are the cons of a turbo, im rather car-ignorant?) and that will run for a long time.
