Hi,
I please to help me with this simple problem - today I had to solve some electrical problems in my '88 240, accidentally cut some wrong
wires under the hood and finally faced that I have no high beams. Problem source are headlights relay (small metall box inside fender near battery - am I right?) terminals 56a and 56b, which led to somewhere, but after my experiments lead to nothing. If I give +12V to one of them, then headlights turn on, if I give +12V to other, then "High beam" bulb comes on the panel, but no beams itself nor relay click. How do I correctly connect 56a and 56b? I would be thankful for any idea.
P.S. Bonus trivia - can you identify this electrical device? (relay?) Orange cylinder ~1.5 inches diameter, ~2 inches height. VOLVO 1362270 HELLA Gluhlampenkontrolle 12V 5KG 004 919-00 Made in Germany. Terminals at the bottom: 31 56bR 56b S SL SR 56b1 K 57L 57R 58L 58R 54R 54L 54. May it be a missing part of my headlights system?
