Overdrive intermittently not engaging/ light won't go off either 900 1993

After startup, transmission will not go beyond third, light arrow shows on dash , I cannot get it up to fourth until after I drive a few minutes (sometimes seconds or hours), touch the button on the shift lever. It does not seem to matter what type driving, time of day, my mood, fuel choice, passenger quantity, level ground, hill climbing or cliff jumping(?)...not that upset yet. Good switch-no sweaty palm syndrome to mess up the switch. A really intermittent problem. Switch consistently will work for long periods of time and then the problem goes away.
Transmission on my 1993 940 non-turbo, 103,000 miles (I owned since 93,500 miles:
