Migh buy an '86 240DL 200

I'm looking at a 1986 240DL that is priced at $700 and looks good. I am a big fan of wagons and RWD, and I am a car nut. I am not familiar with Volvos, but I have always liked them. This car has a tranny fluid leak. The speedometer works intermitently and there is a problem with the rear wiper and washer. Could these problems reflect a problematic wiring harness that I've heard about? Any other info. about theses cars in general or this car (price, etc) specifically would be much appreciated. This car would be a toy...wouldn't need to depend on it too much. I like old cars and I like to tinker, and it is definitely very cool looking. I currently have a Subaru Impreza WRX and a Mazda Miata.
