Comes on when the key is in position II. It is quite loud at first and then gets quieter over a short period of driving, maybe 1-2 minutes. I think my fuel pump is the culprit so I've got a few questions:

The car is a '94 945T with 110k miles, still drivable with the noise although unsure of performance issues as I've been babying it since it started (last night).

Questions:
* Does the '94 940 have an in-tank pump like the 240 series? The 700/900 FAQ says that some of the 7xx/9xx have the two pumps but the later ones only have the main.

* Unsure of the fuel filter history, have had the car since 85k miles. Would a clogged filter starve the main fuel pump for fuel enough to increase the noise level? In any case, I do plan on changing the filter tonight as it looks like it could use one...

* Is the main pump after the filter (pulling fuel through the filter) or after (pushing fuel through the filter)? I can figure this out easily if I were under the car but I haven't even looked under there yet!
