245dl shutting off in traffic 200 1979

Hi Bricksters! I got a new problem in my 79 wagon. I had a few posts up regarding my alternator, I thought it was done, but I come to find out it is fine. I havent had a problem in 6 days. Usually, I would have to charge my battery every 4 days. Well I went to the parts store, to have them check my alternator, but before they could read it, I guess the stores tester drained my battery, so they charged it for me. While it was charging, I was poking around under the hood, someone walked up and started asking me about my Volvo, long story short, he and I tightened the belts, I thought they were tight enough, but they wern't. Well we put the charged battery in, and all systems tested normal. Later that day, I went to start it, no juice. So I jumped it, and it is fine. Usually when I jump it I HAVE to charge the battery when I get home, But this time it didn't need a charge after I jumped it. Same thing happened today while driving, just died. When my belts were loose it would give me signs that it was about to die..run funny, radio would kick off, lights were dim. But now it just dies. I am thinking, that the alternator is now working properley, or I couldn't just jump it and not charge the battery. I repeatedly started and turned it off after this happened. It started every time. I am puzzled, and not very wise in the ways of the machines, but I am learning, with the help of the brickboard. What could be going on now? Can it be the alternator still? or voltage regulator? Wiring? I am at a loss. Is something possibly draining the battery? Couldn't be the radio could it? It gets statticy and screechy sometimes, and I know I have to fix one of the connecters on the horn, but those wouldnt drain the battery would they? Thanks in advance for the great help! Franco79 '79 245dl 217k Special thanks to all those who responeded to my post about keeping or junking my beloved wagon. Yes I am keeping it, and yes I am still loving it!
