940 Turbo is 200,000 miles new today 900

My 1919 940 Turbo has passed the 200,000 mile mark today. Up until my move to Georgia in 1998 all my cars were pieces of junk. My 89 Chrysler required massive work at 80,000. I have never had a car that I felt confident in with high mileage or a “C” car (car I would drive to California and back without worry).

I fell in love with the car the moment I saw it. It had a sister on the lot, but nobody cared for her and she was bleeding oil from bumper to bumper. I gave $5,300.00 cash for 120,000 mile Volvo. For a moment I thought I was out of my mind to purchase a car with so many miles on it. I took it across town to an independent Volvo shop for inspection. They informed me that other than the water pump leaking she was in good shape.

A list of things performed since I owned:
1) Front rotors and brakes
2) Fuel pump
3) Fuel pump relay
4) Turbo nipple and oil trap (flame trap)
5) Shocks all around
6) Front suspension bushing and ball joints
7) Pinion seal
8) Radiator
9) Water pump
10) Timing belt and tensioner
11) Accessory belts
12) Rear main & dist. Seals
13) Few turbo hoses

There are many little things I did but this list gets the big stuff. I should have included number 14) Much help and good reading on the Brickboard. I plan on keeping it running for many years to come. My plan is to invest about $5,000.00 in two years and have the engine rebuilt, rebuilt tranny (if needed), drive train rebuild, new springs, paint, and rear suspension overhaul. I figure the car will be like new less the motor accessories, but I will take car of them as they fail. I have NEVER made a car payment on this car and I love it. Thanks for all the good reading and input.
