Okay, the wiring is fixed... 200

Okay, I got the wiring harness repaired, the flame trap replaced, but was unable to solve the main reason I got under the hood in the first place - bad coolant temp sensor. How in the heck do you get that thing out of there? I really don't want to take the intake manifold off, but I can't get a socket (3/4") on the main part of the sensor because the plastic doodad where the wires connect is too big. I can't get a open end wrench to stay on it because of all the stuff (knock sensor, flame trap, other lines and hoses) in the way. Is there a special tool that can be had inexpensively? Any tips/tricks would be appreciated.
