Every now and then I'll take a look at one of the many sites dedicated to the heavy-duty engine swaps for older Volvos. Although I'm happy with the car now, I think it'd be the coolest thing in the world to drive it with a Ford Mustang engine. I realize that such an idea is way off in the future, if I ever got around to doing it, especially since it'd probably cost me over $6,000. Still, I keep that hope in the back of my mind that one day, I could drive a Volvo that could smoke almost anyone out there on the road.

Are there any Brickboarders who have done the V8 or other major engine swap? How much did it cost you? How long was your car out of service? How do you feel about how it drives now? Is a swap worth saving up for, or would I be better off using that money to upgrade other parts of the car?
