740 Dying on me 700 1990

Hi! I have a 1990 Volvo 740, 4 cylinder, 8 valve engine. The other day when I was driving it on the freeway, it just quit on me! I pulled over tried my best to restart it with no luck. I waited a few minutes and tried again; this time it started. I got back home and I noticed that the engine light was on. I retrieved the code and it gave me a 1-4-4 (no load signal). I called around to ask what this means and the dealerships that I have talked to said, of course, to take it in so they can have a closer look. I am not about to spend $95.00/ hour if I can 'try' to fix it myself. I kept calling and talked to Volvo specialists. One guy said it is the Air Mass Sensor, another said it is the ignition/ power stage module, then another said it is definitely the fuel pump relay. NOW I AM CONFUSED! I unplgged the Air Mass sensor and cranked the engine; it started but idled crappy. I cleaned all sensor contacts and the code still comes after clearing it.

This occurs only when the engine is at optimum temperature. The car starts right up in the morning or if it has been sitting for an hour or so. HELP!!!
