A little while ago I mentioned that the circular rubber surrounding the glovebox lock (the part of the lock you grasp to turn it) had cracked and fallen apart. I decided I was going to just glue it back on and asked for any comments or suggestions.

I just got in from gluing it. I used some rubber cement I found in the garage, which means it'll probably do nothing, but I get the feeling I'll have to remove the rubber anyway. As I was gluing it back on, a few more pieces proceeded to come off, particulary the "lip" part that covers the front outside edge of the metallic part of the lock. One of the larger pieces broke in half, but I managed to get a circle of rubber around the lock again. However, while it was off, I noticed that there is another internal rubber ring that's firmly attached to the lock. It's smaller than the outside ring (obviously, since that goes over this) and isn't supposed to be what is exposed, but since it has a simliar pattern on the outside and I don't think anyone will notice the difference, I think I may pull off the now-glued stuff and just leave the inner ring. Before I trash the stuff that fell off and give all of this up, are there any other ways to get the outer ring of rubber without going to a junkyard (there aren't any near where I live)?
