Besides AC problems I am also having a problem with my fuel system.
Last year an 'expert' mechanic replaced the in-tank fuel pump because it failed.
The next day, the car quit running. It was discovered that the pump had fallen to the bottom of the tank. The 'expert' (no, not me, by the way) reinstalled the pump and I then noticed a very loud buzzing/humming.
Mechanic said not to worry, that maybe the pump was "touching the tank".
The noise has become unbearable.
I have been told that this car has only the in-tank pump. However, I noticed that the noise is coming from under the driver's seat. Lifting the carpet I noticed a square metal device that seems to be responsible for the humming.
Could this be the 'main pump' that is not supposed to be there? If so, is it 'buzzing/humming' because the in-tank pump has failed. The pump under the seat is hot to the touch. Again, it is puzzling because the noise started when the in-tank pump was replaced and because this model is not supposed to have a main pump according to everyone I have asked about this. Sorry this post is so wordy! I would really appreciate any insight on this problem.
Thanks.
