After market gauges 700 1988

I am thinking about installing an aftermarket oil pressure gauge to replace the "idiot" light. Anyone have ideals as to a gauge that looks good but fits in well (read 'barely noticable')? Can I use either a mechanical or electrical gauge? And why didn't Volvo put gauges in their cars? Mine is a 740 turbo but came from the factory equipped with the idiot light. At 201,000 miles I would like more assurance than a light.

Thanks
