where is my fuel dampener? 700

I have seen on the junkyard, some cars have a fuel pressure dampener
about 4 inch rear of main fuel pump.
My 86 740 NA has none. Why?
Maybe somebody knows if only some years were equipped with that
or did some PO (previous owner) remove it?
A answer would help to calm down my nerves :)
