greetings,
volvo canada calls the crumbling wire syndrome "alleged". funny...i thought VOCA talked them down to a special price because the original part was defective?
at any rate i can't afford to by a new or used harness and i've recruited the help of an electronics "whizz" to help me rebuild my harness install it properly and check grounding etc.
i have the haynes repair manual for the 700 series but (oddly) it doesn't give the wiring specs (if it does i can't find it). i've also read the FAQ and some articles relating to rewiring 200/700 series but i'm still in need of some information.
does someone have the wiring specs for a 1985 740 (non-turbo) 5-speed built in gothenburg?
can you give me the suggested gauge, temp, voltage ratings and coating (vinyl or silicone vs. teflon?) etc. i haven't pulled the harness out yet (doing that saturday morning). if you happen to know approximately how much wire i'll need i'd appreciate that information as well.
i'm thinking of assuming everything uses 30A in the harness thus i can't accidentally install wire that isn't thick enough. any thoughts on that approach?
i understand that i'll have to remove the exhaust manifold as well.
any info. and advice you care to throw my way would be appreciated.
cheers,
steve z
