Exhst Manifold Gasket. Placement? Which is the block side? 200 1992

Hi all: Have a 1992 240, B230F engine, non-turbo, auto-trans.

I'm replacing the exhaust manifold gaskets (4 per set).

The gasket's are smooth on one side (it almost looks like a metal material) and rough on the other.

QUESTION? What side does the the smooth side face.

The block side?

Or

The exhaust manifold side?
