Strange Turn Signal. 200 1983

My 1983 240 has develop a strange turn signal problem. All bulbs appear to be working correctly. When signaling left, the signal flashes 5-6 times per second. When signaling right, the signal flashes a more normal 2-3 times per second. The problem started to occur suddenly and has been working correctly up till now.

Any ideas what is causing this?
