91 740 B230 oil filter 700

Well, I just got this super-clean 740 wagon with only 205,000 miles on it. I've had several ovlovs in the past, mostly 140 and 240's - first 740. I've never had to puncture an oil filter to get it off before! What idiot designed this thing to sit right on top of the mount? What do you guys use for a filter wrench? I tried several different ones, but none of them could get past that narrow clearance. Anybody know a source for a remote filter? Thanks - what a great resource!
