Is it workable to go 15K with synthetic oil and only top off and change filter frequently ? 200 1986

Note the thread at this site. The prospect is that one could use fully synthetic oil, such as Mobil 1, and change the filter frequently (every 1K miles would be ok with me) and then just top off frequently and only change the oil at 15K miles driven.

Personally, I have a relatively LOW mileage ?86 240 DL sedan and the most bothersome aspect of oil changes are the appointments or, if doing it myself, the disposal.

It would seem that it would be a more widespread knowledge and acceptance, but the implication or at least possibility is to just top off and do the easy lean-over changing of the filter very frequently.

And that the Mobil 1, itself, would not need to be drained more often than 15 K miles. (Which for me is about every 3-4 years !)

It is worth the time to write this post, to inquire in a more professional forum, if this would work as well as every 6 months oil changes of normal dinosaur oil.

Man, how convenient would that be - GREAT.
I would Just keep topping off the fully synthetic and simply reaching down every 2K miles, or less, hand twisting off the oil filter and putting on another. No drain pans and waste disposal for years for me, with low mileage.

I hope for responses from the pros on this forum.
