latest news.. . .things are looking up!! (do i have to drain the block to install ECT?) 200 1987

I finally did the recommended test, and here are the results. ignition on, voltage between the blue wire and ground:

w/o the sender attached (oops!!) = between 4 and 5V
with the sender attached = 1.5V

So i ordered a new ECT.

On to the real question. . .do i need to drain the block to install a new ECT?
