Well, let me first give you all a list of what has been checked, fixed, or seems to be working on my 1983 240 DL:
Engine harness has been replaced, new fuel pump relays, replaced distributor with known good one, cleaned fuses, checked and clean connections of 25 amp blade fuse, cleaned battery terminals, cleaned many other connections.
Now for the problem: I still have intermittent stalling and I don't know where to trace it too. The only clue I have is a strange sort of rattle that occurs back in the rear of the car when I accelerate. I think the main fuel pump is okay. But could I have a in tank pump that is half working, on and off? The car seems to run fine and then out of nowhere will just completely stall out. Then it will start back up. However sometimes it will do strange surging when I restart it. It will surge then drop, surge and drop and does not stop till I turn off the engine, then start it again and it usually goes away. The surging is kind of sporadic though. Sometimes it will just stall out, start right back up and run fine for awhile. Does this sound like some kind of fuel pump problem, or AMM, or electrical? Help me out and share all ideas and also how I can test and check. I am a rookie and don't know too much so spell it out for me. Thanks, Doug
