Turn Signals 900 1992

The turn signals on my 960 wagon have been working irratically for the past two days. In other words when I move the stalk sometimes they work sometimes not. I have checked all the bulbs and sockets and these seem fine. I was wondering if the 900 series used a flasher unit and if that is perhaps the culprit? Any help would be appreciated.
