Guys and Gals,
My 1990 Volvo 740 Turbo with Mitsubishi Turbo acts like it wants to stall under hard acceleration. RPM's are usually around 4200 RPM when it trys to stall.
The car is behaving a lot better than yesterday. Yesterday when i drove it , the first symptom was that i couldn't accelerate over about 10-15 MPH - embarrassing in HEAVY Atlanta traffic. I jiggled the hose running to throttle body (which until today was a rigged combo of the original hose and sewage house used to provide a good seal around the throttle body) and put more fuel into the car - the car had maybe 1/8 of a tank left. I cut the car off , restarted it and drove it about 8 miles with no noticeable problems.
I ordered that a section of Turbo hose that connects to the throttle body and replaced the rigged combo section of hose. I can easily drive above 30 mph now -and so far have taken the car up to 50 MPH - but the attempts to stall still occur on hard acceleration.
I suspect the turbo maybe overboosting and the fuel shut off system is kicking in.
Any suggestions on what I should check ???
I am about to run to a 24 hour Auto store and try to find some hose to replace the turbo hose running to the boost control diaphram, appendage thing.
Thank You.
