The usual story, the plastic inlet neck rotted off our 91. I was ready to jump into getting a Nissens, 3 row all metal, but by chance happened to read some of the recent archives about rads and glad I didn't take the plunge yet.
I have no clue whether the Nissen, Modine, Radtech, Blackstone, CSF, or whatever are best. I know that I DO NOT like the Blackstone plastic inlet outlet necks, because of breakage reasons. As for cooling ability I have no problem with them.
As for metal rads, I do remember that the 60's cars with copper rads had their own fragility and corrosion problems (hmmm I think so?). Anyway, I do know that brass is not so great at conducting temps.
So, it seems that both choices have inherent problems. Okay now for the question: Has anyone found and successfully installed (without too much trouble)
a German made top quality all aluminum rad, no plastic necks, no brass core or tubing? ... I'm thinking of a mod here if need be. Perhaps BMW has one that will fit with little modification?
Looking for the perfect rad. Tired of planned obsolescence.
