The exhaust header (or downpipe as it is called) is connected between the exhaust manifold and CAT. It starts as two pipes at the manifold and merges at a Y and enters the CAT as one pipe. That "Y" is notorious for cracking due to vibration and stress. Mine cracked in half recently and I ordered a replacement from FCP Groton. The replacement fit the manifold and the CAT, but it was about 1" too long AND, the bend radius was too great. MEANING, after I connected it at the manifold, the other end was tilting slightly upward (toward the floorboard) instead of directly to the rear of the car. Consequently, it was difficult to get the donut to seat properly between the downpipe and CAT. Also, combined with the 1" increase in length, my CAT is banging up against the bottom of the car and makes an unbearable racket.
Has anyone ever had this problem before? Do you think Groton will replace it?
Thanks for any advice/recommentdations.
