More on Instrument Lights on 1988 240GL

Thanks for the help on my earlier post concerning no instrument lights. Done some more checking and I am almost there.

Earlier post says (reference to Haynes manual):

Rheostat. Terminal #58b. GR is power from fuse #16 which is powered from the headlight switch. Same terminal W-R shows for (1987 models) goes to lights in e-brake in back for seat belt warning and ashtray. In the 1988 this line also goes to lights inside the seat belt stalks.) These must be correct as my fasten seat belt light works.

(Terminal 58a. Two BN wires. One wire goes to the lights in the center control panel. The other goes to a connector where there is one BN in and two BN out. One wire goes to the lights in the center control panel. The other wire goes to instrument cluster circle-shaped connector, terminal #10.) This must be the area of problem. The light in the Automatic Transmission works but none of instrument panel or center console lights work.

(The other BN wire on the rheostat terminal #58a goes to the gear indicator in an AW70 car.) Works well.

Can I run a jumper from the back of the rheostat to the #10 terminal? I did follow the wires to find the 'connector' but could not locate it - the wiring went into the wiring harness (taped area). Found where they came out but still no connector.

Any more help would greatly be appreciated.
