First thanks for the advice given on my seized caliper in my earlier post. Had it rebuilt for $45 inc labour using Lucas seals and boots.
Sorry if this has been asked before but the FAQ didn't say anything. Problem is I can't decide whether I should get a 2 or a 3 ton jack/jack stands.
Points for a 2 tonner (my preference)
-car weighs only 1800 kg
-I'm relatively a small person so I don't need that much a lot of clearance
-need to replace the factoy jack (the top end is deformed), a 2 ton will less bulky to put in the boot
-intend on using these for simple DIY eg brakes, tyre rotation, engine and tranny mount maybe suspension, exhaust but nothing major like removing a tranny. (I'll leave that to my mechanic) Not sure how heavy the engine is but I figure less than 2 ton
My wife (a design engineer) however insists I should get a 3 ton for "safety tolerance". Ok I told her .. I'll ask for advice from the brickboard first.
Thanks in advance.
