If anyone here tests their relay any time soon, would mind doing one additional test. When you turn your car off check the yellow black wire going into the relay at 86/1 terminal and see if you have immediate voltage, and if you don't check the orange wires at diagonal from each other at terminals 85 and 87/1 to verify if they have battery voltage. When the orange wires have voltage the yellow black one should not.
In other words, if the plastic case is off the relay, you can observe, whether the one contact inside the relay remains closed even after the car is shut off. When the relay contact is closed the orange wires have voltage. The yellow black wire only has voltage when the contacts inside the relay are open.
I was told my ECM is faulty because the relay stays on for 3 minutes after I shut the car off. But someone has told me this 3 minute thing might actually be normal for the 1989's with the LH 2.4 system.
If anyone does have to do a relay test, let me know your results of this test, if you don't mind doing it. I do not have a second 89, 240 to compare this to, nor do I have a second ECM, either. Sorry to have to ask.
thank you
