Stealth Post -- B230 Vibration Question (in a 940) 200

Not getting much response on 900 forum, but it's really a B230 question anyway, so I thought I'd try here — where my heart is.

History: This is my first 940. Got it last March. It had an idling vibration that became a shudder when going from Neutral to R or P. This was slightly reduced by new motor and tranny mounts, then finally cured by "modifying" the broken tran-to-exhaust bracket.

I don't think the vibration that prompted this post is new, but was just waiting to be noticed, now that the other problem is cured. It feels like it's there all the time — barely noticeable at idle, but building as RPMs go up. It peaks at about 2750 +/- 100, then fades away around 3000. Loose change in the console tray usually jingles at the peak RPM.

It does it in Neutral, and can also be felt in the pedal at all road speeds, again peaking between 2500 and 3000 RPM. (Reminds me of aggressive tread tire "buzz" except for the fact it's also there at idle and is RPM sensitive.)

I checked the Harmonic Balancer with timing light and it was OK , as was a Compression Test .

All suggestions gratefully accepted,
