Clogged arteries?- plugged elbow? 200 1990

I've posted previously about my 5 bar gauge in my car staying around 4 bar when the car is running regardless of the rpm's. I've replaced the sensor, checked the ground, and unplugged the connector and the gauge pegs at 5. Is it possible that the elbow from the block to the sender is clogged with old oil sludge? Any advisce is helpful. It is really tough to get to, it looks like I would have to remove the alternator to check. Thanks for your help!
