89 240GL OD stuck on? 200

The other day I was driving down the highway and as such, I engaged the OD on my 89 240 GL w/ auto tranny and cruised at about 75-80mph for about 5 miles. Did the same thing on the return trip.

The problem is my OD is stuck in the on position. The light indicating OD is not stuck though. The button/light on the dash work fine and the button can turn the light on and off, however, it does not change the OD, which remains on. I have noticed also that the car is producing very high RPMs and not shifting as it used to in regular drive. While driving around town at about 35mph, the car will be in the 3500 rpm range, going just over 4000 before it shifts up at around 45-50mph. Less then a week ago, the car shifted up at 35-40mph and at around 3500rpm. As with the overdrive, the car feels like its a little toy, jumping from around 1000 rpm to over 3000 rpm when slight pressure is applied to the gas pedal. At last check the fluid levels were fine for the tranny. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
