Auto Transmission slipping 200 1987

My 87 240DL (266K Miles)started acting up last week. When cold the transmission seems to wait longer before shifting by 2K RPM, and when warm then the transmission seems to slip on acceleration for a second like a tire is slipping.

Any ideas, can something be adjusted, or is it the torque converter or worse.
