gas guage & warning lights stop working occasionally. 900

Sometimes my gas guage conks out while driving, and my warning lights dont come on when I turn the ignition on in the morning. Usually a good smack on the top of the dash fixes it, but it's becoming more frequent (and more annoying). Is there an easy fix to this?

'93 940 Turbo wagon. A big comfy box.... and a '90 Mazda 626 GT turbo, 16psi on upgraded turbo and a bunch of other mods.
