Dumb question about power to an electric fan conversion 700 1990

A project this or next weekend is to replace the fan in my 90 744T with the shroud and electric fan from a 93 940. Install seem simple, but FAQ mentions power from a switched source, or, an unswitched source which would rely only on the thermo-switch to control the fan. I don't see any reason for the fan to run after the engine is off. The water pump doesn't continue circulating coolant, so the fan is only cooling the radiator. Am I missing something?

Also, what are recommendations about the pusher fan just behind the grill? I thought I'd power it through a relay off the AC compressor, but my 940 doesn't have one, so should I just remove that also? The advantage I see is that the AC would get some air flow when the car is stopped and the main fan wasn't running. Problem, however, is that it would also run at speed, when neither fan is needed. Thanks.
