Ignition wiring issue, won't start 900 1991

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone for their patience as I get my feet wet with my 1st Volvo!

This message was originally entitled "Aftermarket remote starter removed..."

Knowing the basics of how an ignition system works I'm certain that I'm not getting power to the coil when the car is in the "ON/STARTED" position. Tracing the wires from the coil I couldn't help but notice the probe markings in the wires. There is a single blue wire (12-14 ga.) from the positive side and 2 red/white wires (one is lighter gauge than the other, the heavier gauge wire is the same gauge as the blue wire from the negative side of the coil). There are probe markings near the coil, near where the harness enters the firewall and up near the battery where there is a flat 4 wire connector connected to what looks to be some sort of electrical device. The four wires are as follows: A lighter gauge blue wire (14-16) a red/white wire, certainlly one from the negative side of the coil, and two black wires, one is 10+ gauge the other is 12-14 gauge. I'm guessing this car has had issues in the past.

Is there anyone out there that can help me safely circumvent this hack?

Thanks!

- Jeff
